Meet Marcie Tau, Season Qs Founder and CEO

Marcie Tau, CEO and Founder

Generally, ‘About Us’ pages provide a brief summary of the backgrounds of key organizational personnel that highlights their credentials, professional history, and major accomplishments.

I, too, could tell you about my 15+ year career as a medical education and communications consultant in the healthcare industry. I could tell you about my years as an Executive Board Member of Big Brothers Big Sisters and my other non-profit experience. I could cite specific accolades, achievements, and awards. I could also tell you about my psychology degree from Rutgers and experiences as a foster mom. Yes, all of these important details qualify me to be successful in my role as CEO. But, none of that tells you why I founded Season Qs Academy, why I’m 100% committed to our mission, and why your child will flourish here.

For me, Season Qs is personal. As a mom, I’d rather fill you in on the why’s…

In the last two years, my son has attended two public schools and three private schools. These schools were carefully selected because their programs seemed to be the most closely aligned to meet my son’s needs. You see, my son is adopted, and from birth until adoption, his basic human needs for love, care, affection, water, and nourishment were not met. These profound negative experiences caused significant delays in his emotional growth and overall development, thus leading him to highly mistrust unfamiliar adults and fear many common situations that are of no concern to a child without early trauma.

As you can imagine, my son’s anxiety, fear, and trauma-based issues have made school particularly challenging. Please understand, there were some really great, effective teachers, and my son was/is absolutely capable of succeeding in an academic setting. Each of the five schools attempted to provide appropriate support services that might better enable my little boy to participate and learn in their environments. Unfortunately, time and again, the schools did not have the right level of sensitivity, resources, training, and/or skill sets to adequately and consistently do so. Instead, he encountered negative experiences piled upon negative experiences. My son’s behavior and emotional breakdowns in school became unmanageable. Every time the phone rang, I said a little prayer. I knew I had to do something to change it.

Throughout these two years, I’ve met many parents and learned of many children across the county who have similar needs in terms of environment and support, although the specific underlying causes vary. So, once I realized that there may not be a current school or existing academic program that works for these amazing kids, I decided to create one.

Season Qs Academy is a school where the staff has the training and tools to engage and inspire students, and where each student is treated with respect, kindness, and compassion. A place where there’s a standard of excellence, and children are gently pushed to excel beyond it. A place where children are seen as the amazing individuals they are and are allowed the flexibility and creativity to one day be a circle; another day, be an oval, rectangle, triangle, or square; some days be a tiny dot; and on others, be a large shining star. It’s a place to belong.

I founded Season Qs Academy for my child, your child, myself, and you. Our children deserve an education and a foundation for an amazing future.

Season Qs Academy, where EVERY CHILD CAN REACH FOR THE STARS!
