EFT Tapping

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a brilliant psychotherapy technique that is somewhat new and has proven to be successful to help those who suffer from various types of trauma, anxiety, or post traumatic stress. Because it’s so new and effective, this treatment is considered breakthrough therapy, and many are amazed at the lasting relief.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, which is both right and left eye movement, to stimulate opposing sides of the brain. This helps to release emotional experiences that have lingered in the nervous system, causing emotional distress. The techniques include vibration and tapping at certain pressure points, as well as coinciding eye movements, that in essence retrain the brain to respond to certain stimuli.

The tapping practice is called the Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, and it’s considered a sort of psychological acupressure approach known to implement positive goals, reduce pain, and reduce food cravings.

You can read more in-depth steps of EMDR here. The simple reason that EMDR is so successful is brain plasticity, or the brain’s natural ability to change.

If you’re curious as to how this works, Season Qs founder Marcie Tau shared this brilliant video with me, of New York Times best selling author Louise Hay, explaining why she thinks EFT tapping is so important and a glimpse at what it looks like.
